Streaming plays a video while data arrives from the platform. Downloading saves a file or protected offline copy before later playback. Some services offer both, some allow only streaming and others use an in-app offline mode that is not a permanent file.
When streaming is simpler
Streaming avoids managing large files and usually starts quickly. It is useful when the connection is stable and the library changes often. Quality may adjust automatically, so the same release can look different as bandwidth rises or falls.
When a download helps

Select the option whose records you understand and can manage, rather than assuming either route is automatically private.
